April 2021 Celestial Insights

Welcome to your April 2021 Celestial Insights overview!

What an exciting month we have ahead! Personally I love the energies of the very first week of April. Just coming off the heels of a full moon in Libra last month, the sun in Aries moves with Venus for nearly the first week. This puts a great emphasis on self love, self healing, and passion. Venus runs hot in Aries, and often very much in alignment with pleasure. This can be wonderful for taking charge of your personal appearance, as well as pursuing your hearts desires. Watch out for power struggles closer to mid- month with other people, especially when it comes to issues with authority. This will be when the sun comes into a square with Pluto in Capricorn. I imagine there will be a clash of personal needs versus responsibilities. These responsibilities can manifest in the form of work or outer world responsibilities.

This month the new moon will be in Aries on the 11th putting a great deal of emphasis on opportunity and desire. No better time to set personal intentions than a new moon in Aries. With so much positive exchange between planets in air signs and planets in fire signs, I imagine communication will be lively. Themes of Aries, Gemini, and Aquarius become significant. Communicating your own authentic ideas to groups, and sharing your own vision will be important. The one issue I have is that at the time of the New Moon, the ruler (Mars) will be square Neptune in Pisces. This can create confusion when it comes to communication, and be mixed up in a sense of direction. Proceed carefully in the days surrounding this New Moon. It’s important not to get off track or swept up in other peoples motivations. The full moon in Scorpio takes place on April 27. As far as I'm concerned the last few days of April leading into May are going to pack quite the punch. Anytime we deal with a full moon in Scorpio, skeletons inevitably come out the closet. This full moon puts a great deal of emphasis on the need to change and evolve and break down our fixated perspectives. Shortly after the sun moves to conjunct with Uranus on the 30th, there is a need for sudden change or innovation. Physical changes, earthquakes, electrical and major financial overhauls will be expected as a result of this conjunction. This will play out clear into June of this year.

Pluto begins his retrograde on April 27 and will stay in retrograde until October 6 of this year. What's interesting about this retrograde is that it will slowly help us uncover something that is literally rotten or not supporting a foundation in our life. I imagine this will unfold closer to June or July of this year. When outer planets retrograde we don't feel the effects of it nearly as much as if we were in an inner planet retrograde (like a Mercury or Venus retrograde). However, I would not underestimate this retrograde as it’s going to stir up deep issues with power struggles in our lives over the months ahead, and help us collectively move forward and establish new boundaries with authority figures in our life. In the sign of Capricorn, I imagine a deep overhaul on a political and even international level is coming. Stricter rules, regulations, and borders are coming. Make no mistake, this energy will be very strong for nearly another two years until Pluto moves into Aquarius.

From April 23 clear into early May 2021 planets in Taurus form intense squares with Saturn in Aquarius. Here the theme of Security, finances, and values get checked by Saturn in Aquarius. I imagine this will play out in some extreme market volatility, and perhaps major switch ups in currency. Expect wild swings when it comes to the economy. Radical shifts in crypto currency, market trends, and technology are all to be expected. With Taurus being Mother Earth, watch out for extreme shakes when it comes to earth quakes! When these squares take place suddenly environmental issues will come to the surface. We will be asked to collectively move into a time and place of getting our values in order. The end of April is a good time to revaluate what we value most in life, and strive to achieve goals that support everyone, not just a select few. Keeping open minded is key. Those who share solutions and visions for a new tomorrow will be rewarded!

This New Moon is going to help individuals get back on track. This New Moon comes in at a Saturn degree, and is in excellent aspect to Jupiter and Mars! Words and belief go hand in hand. This is THE time to set long term goals for yourself. Because it’s a Mars ruled Moon, and Mars is in Gemini it’s best to write your intentions down and speak them out-loud! Consider taking that road trip, starting that book, or taking that course! Whatever makes room for the most personal development will be best. Aries Rules the face, head, and eyes. So it’s time to keep your eyes on the prize. If you find yourself feeling extra restless, consider getting active, and participating in some sort of physical fitness that helps you work up a sweat. You’ll be glad you opted for this rather than finding yourself going toe to toe with someone in a quarrel. Refocus any passion, drive, or aggression into achieving your own goals, you’re number one!

Ways to Ritualize This Moon

Crystals: Carnelian, Bloodstone, Red Jasper
Herbs: Basil, Wormwood, Chamomile, Allspice
Colors: Red, Rust, Yellow

  • Work with fire or heat. Be that brewing a hot cup of spiced tea, or burning a candle. The Aries/ Mars energies are strong with this Moon. Fire is excellent for manifesting your desires, or spicing up your romantic connection.
  • Heat is wonderful for healing the body during this moon. Hot stone massages, saunas, and being out in the Sun is all positive.
  • Get a hair cut, or a scalp massage! Consider setting intentions for a new hair do, commit to chopping it all off, or growing it out.
  • Iron intake is a must this month also! Get lots of green veggies.
  • Making grids with any warm or rust colored crystals, along with quartz clusters with iron is the perfect way to harness this energy.
Ritual offerings in a setting alone is ideal. Aries is more so self focused, it’s best to use then energy to manifest your goals or personal desires. Commit to a new morning routine, and be sure to integrate this regularly to help you reach your personal goals. Write all of your intentions on paper, and speak them out loud. Then burn the intention paper over a fire safe pot or bowl.

Full Moon in Scorpio: Rise of the Phoenix
April 26th @ 7 degrees of Scorpio
8:32 pm PST // 11:32 pm EST

Planetary Aspects
  • Sun in Taurus oppose Moon in Scorpio
  • Moon in Scorpio trine Mars in Cancer
  • Moon in Scorpio oppose Uranus in Taurus
  • Mercury in Taurus square Saturn in Aquarius
  • Venus in Taurus square Saturn in Aquarius
  • Mars in Cancer trine Jupiter in Aquarius
  • Saturn in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus
  • Saturn in Aquarius trine the North Node in Gemini
  • Chiron in Aries trine the South Node in Sagittarius, trine the North Node in Gemini
Themes & Symbolism: Exploration, investigation, research, psychological analysis, saturation, immersion, taking the plunge, jumping in, getting involved. The Scorpion, The Snake, The Eagle, The Phoenix, The Death Card
This Full Moon is a real doozy. In all honestly Scorpio Full Moon’s are already intense enough, but in recent years they have seemed to align with radical Uranus in Taurus. Full Moons intentionally bring matters to a head, and in the days revolving around this Full Moon it’s expected. Uranus shakes things up and presents us with THE unexpected. Electrical issues, love and relationship flux, and more. Ultimately, this is for Good reason, and helps us detach from whatever isn’t PHYSICALLY valuable in the long run. Take note of whatever comes “loose” around this Full Moon. Being that Scorpio deals with death and rebirth, there’s a real emphasis on not clutching to something, well, dead. So if you find yourself with a death grip on something rotten, TIME TO LET IT GO! The following month will show you just how to refocus your energy on what is tangible and real. Those struggling with the shake ups benefit from getting out in nature, taking a bath, or working with aroma therapy!

Ways to Ritualize this Moon

Crystals: Amethyst, Smokey quartz, Turquoise
Herbs: Belladonna, Basil, Chrysanthemum, Cumin
Colors: Maroon, Red, Black

  • Detoxes and purges of all kinds are welcome during this Full Moon. Be that a bath, or even decluttering and cleaning out your home or closet space.
  • Herbs that benefit the root chakra/ reproductive system are great to help detox during this Full Moon.
  • Scorpio is a water sign, so hot baths and soaks can be wonderful for this Full Moon. Throw in a little uncrossing herbs if you need an extra purge, I mean boost!
  • Bury things. Literally. If you have something you can’t get over or let go of, put it in a box and either bury or recycle it. You’ll thank me later.
  • Work with dark goddesses like Hecate, Kali, or Lillith. Be sure to do your homework first and read up on what sort of offerings they prefer.
Ritual offerings of red wine, dark crystals, black mirrors, and anything related to bones can be perfect for a Full Moon in Scorpio. Do your magical work at night when the Moon is its brightest. Work in odd numbers if you’re in a group setting. Black candles and Maroon would be best.

Kitchen Witch" is a term used for cunning or witchy folx whose spiritual practice is rooted within food, mealtimes, and the home. Kitchen Witches craft rituals, spells and/or potions utilizing edible items, found objects, and common household items. The kitchen is their altar; their home is their sacred space. In 2014, we created our Ritual Kits, Candles and Apothecary with the idea of mixing and matching common ritualistic ingredients like lavender, rose, or patchouli that would create a perfect combination for a unique spell or intention- setting ritual...
