Mars Retrograde in Aries: Beware of Sharp Tongues, Proceed Carefully!

Mars began its retrograde motion July 25th, 2020, and reached it's peak on September 9th. We will feel the effects of this peak until November 13th 2020, but Mars will technically remain in it's retrograde zone until January 2nd of 2021.

What Does This Mean?

Mars is the ruling planet of Aries, and when direct in it's home sign, things flow accordingly. When retrograde however, it can mean upsets in the Mars and Aries archetypes- specifically with aggression, sexuality, impulsiveness, and impatience. These are all the "negative" attributes to the Aries archetype, which can also be heightened during Mars retrograde. Take a look at your chart and see what house Mars lands in- you might find trouble in these areas too!

What Can You Do to Help?

  • Light both red and black and candles, preferably on a Tuesday (even more specifically on the 3rd and 10th hours! Read about planetary hours here). Red represents Mars and Aries, and black represents protection and grounding.
  • Light a Fire Element Candle to heighten the "positive" traits of both Mars and Aries.
  • Or ignite a Water or Earth Candle! Invite balance to the "negative" aspects of Mars and Aries by heightening the things these two archetypes lack- water represents intuitiveness, emotional connection, relatability, and patience, whereas Earth represents grounding, stability, and practicality.
  • Try the Communication & Connection Crystal Kit to get in touch with how to better understand and communicate your feelings.
  • Our Banishing Ritual Mist will help clear any negative energies and welcome in positivity. Among other things, this mixture contains Basil, which represents Mars and thus will connect you to the higher ethereal plane in which these vibrations reside.

As we navigate the celestial currents of 2025, a unique astrological event awaits: both Venus and Mercury will be retrograde simultaneously. Venus will transition from Aries to Pisces during its retrograde, while Mercury will retrograde in Aries. This rare cosmic alignment offers a profound opportunity for introspection, reassessment, and personal growth. When these two influential planets appear to move backward in the sky, their retrograde energies prompt us to slow down and reevaluate critical aspects of our lives. While the experience may seem challenging, it ultimately serves as a chance to heal, reset, and reconnect with our true desires and intentions.
